G24: NZ delivers!
The shoot for this new Global 24 collection was supposed to be pretty straight forward. Leg it up the hill at Buller get some rad shots with the crew. Dunzo. End Aug/start Sept, should be plenty of snow. Nothing to worry about. As we know, this season gone, not the case. Easy, Perisher is still open, let's do it there with our new team riders Ally Hickman and Brock Ibbostson. Great opportunity to introduce them to you guys... By the time the samples arrive it was Sept and things were looking dicey there too... Wooooooosssaaaaaaaa
Meanwhile over the ditch, things were absolutely firing!!! And as it so turns out every person and their dog from the Vico hills was heading over so the stars were aligning for a frothy shoot in NZ.
We linked up with out photog Will, who may seem like a real grown up these days running a class photog agency but at the roots he is a snow bum through and through. Part of the original Rusty Toothbrush crew, the guy can sling a cam in the snow just as good as in the studio!
With Will on board for the trip over it was time to assemble the crew...
Team Shred Jack Marks the previous MBP day manager who has jumped the ditch and living full time in NZ.
Team Shred Liam Coghlan the back to back shaper between Sun Peaks and Cardies, the snow Picasso!
New Team member Ange Stratton - keep your eye on this young lady in the Freeride World Tour, can confirm, absolutely rips!
New Yuki Friend Fuki! Whaaaaaaaat? Yerrrp! Fuki is an absolute legend and a Vibe!
"I had an absolute blast during the shoot. We had just gotten some fresh snow; it was a bluebird day for most of it, with minimal wind. It was an incredible experience to spend the day shooting with Fuki, my best friend, and Will, the photographer. He was super eager to let us ride wherever we wanted. We spent much of the day hiking and getting some great turns. Later, we played around in the park and did some euro carves too. I was thrilled to get my hands on the new Genki Kit. I felt really comfortable, and the style was exactly what I was hoping for. It has all the technical features you could want, and I was excited to stay dry all day!" - Angelina Stratton
Over a couple of days the crew got frothy in the park, side hits and managed to score some pow and get some insane shots. I amazing at a couple of absolute hammer shots that look like they were out the back on a heli trip.
We mixed up the new Genki pant and jacket on the crew in the Navy and Eucalyptus colourways.
We had some cool new hoodies to shoot too. I personally love the Y2K and the Sketchy.
And we also got a re-up of the black Bilbo because y'all went skitz for that this winter and we dropped in another tan colour because who doesn't want a tan pair as well!
All in all was a banging shoot. Thanks for coming through with the goods NZ! We love you!
Also, so sick to be able to get Will back over to see the crew. One of the first times back for a while after doing a whole bunch of seasons back in the day. One of the things I love about Yuki is being able to do cool shit with awesome people and this was no different! Thanks to everyone reading this for being part of making this all happen.
Big love.
